ICE Custody Locator

ICE Online Detainee Locator System is relevant only if a Saguache County release became an immigration transfer or if the person is currently in ICE custody. It is not a county-jail release archive and does not replace the sheriff's release record. A local release to ICE may mean Saguache jail custody ended while civil immigration custody continued elsewhere.

Immigration Transfers After Release

If the sheriff record says a person was released to ICE or transferred on an immigration hold, the county release record confirms the local custody endpoint. ICE ODLS then checks whether the person is in current ICE custody. ICE states the system locates detainees currently in ICE custody or in CBP custody for more than 48 hours.

How to Search ICE ODLS

USA.gov explains two ODLS search paths: A-number with country of birth, or name with country of birth and birth date. Name-only searching is not enough. If ODLS has no result, confirm whether the person was actually transferred to ICE, moved again, released from immigration custody, or outside ODLS coverage.

  1. Open ICE ODLS at https://locator.ice.gov/.
  2. Search by A-number and country of birth when available.
  3. Otherwise search by name, country of birth, and birth date.
  4. Use Saguache sheriff records for the local release date and transfer note.
  5. Use court or immigration counsel channels for case-specific immigration history.

ICE Locator Records and Contact

The research did not identify a dedicated ICE detention facility in Saguache County. This page is a routing page for the federal immigration locator, not a local facility page. ICE ODLS is the public current-custody lookup; it is not a certified county release record.

About ICE ODLS

ICE ODLS is a civil immigration custody tool. It should not be mixed with CDOC, BOP, VINE, or Saguache County Jail records. A person released from Saguache County Jail on bond or time served will not appear in ODLS unless immigration custody is involved.

Keep the County Record Separate

The sheriff release record should show the county custody endpoint and, when releasable, the receiving agency if there was a transfer. Saguache Combined Court may explain the criminal case event, but immigration custody questions belong to the federal immigration lane.

What an ICE Transfer Means

A county jail release to ICE is a release from Saguache County custody, not necessarily release to the community. The sheriff record may show that local custody ended and that another agency received the person. ICE ODLS can then help check current immigration custody if the person falls within ODLS coverage. If ODLS has no result, that may mean the person is no longer in covered custody, not that the Saguache release record was wrong.

Use careful wording around immigration transfers. The county jail record answers the local custody endpoint. ICE answers current civil immigration custody. The court record answers the criminal case. A federal immigration case may involve separate filings, notices, or counsel channels that are outside the county jail record.

ICE ODLS Search Fields

USA.gov describes the ODLS search options. The strongest path is an A-number with country of birth. The name path also needs country of birth and birth date. That is more specific than a simple jail roster name search, and it reflects the narrow purpose of the locator.

When ICE Is Irrelevant

Most local jail releases are not ICE releases. Bond, time served, dismissal, probation, and CDOC transfer are different paths. Do not use ICE ODLS just because someone is missing from a Saguache custody view. First ask the sheriff whether the person was booked and released, then check Saguache Combined Court for the case event. Use ICE only when the release record, case facts, or family information points to immigration custody.

No dedicated ICE detention facility in Saguache County was found in the research. This page is a routing page for the federal locator. It should not be read as evidence that Saguache County operates an immigration detention facility or posts immigration release records.

Immigration Record Sequence

An immigration custody sequence can begin after the county jail record ends. The Saguache sheriff record may show release to another agency or a transfer note when that information is releasable. ICE ODLS then checks only current ICE custody or CBP custody over 48 hours. If the person is released from immigration custody or moved outside ODLS coverage, the locator may stop being useful for a historical question.

Because ODLS is narrow, keep a local copy of the county release facts when possible. Ask for the release date, time, type, and receiving agency. Check Saguache Combined Court for the criminal case event. Use ICE for immigration custody status only. Those three records answer different questions and should not be merged into a single release claim.

ICE Records to Save

For an ICE lookup, save the A-number if available, country of birth, name spelling used, birth date used, and the date the search was run. If the search follows a Saguache County release, also save the sheriff release date, release type, and any receiving-agency note. Those details help separate the local jail endpoint from the immigration custody question.

If ODLS does not return a result, do not erase the county release record. The person may be outside current ODLS coverage, may have moved, may have been released from immigration custody, or may have been searched with incomplete details. Use the correct custodian for each part of the record chain.

For public criminal case facts, return to Saguache Combined Court rather than treating ICE as the court record. If a person was released on bond, time served, dismissal, or probation, there may be no ICE role at all. Start with the sheriff and court unless a transfer note or reliable case fact points to immigration custody records. This keeps local release proof separate from federal custody status.
